    A pupil of Louis Pasteur and Émile Roux, our company's founder, Marcel Mérieux, established Institut Mérieux in 1897.

    Subsequently, his son, Dr. Charles Mérieux, and, later, his grandson, Alain Mérieux, led Institut Mérieux, to become a world leader in the field of human and veterinary vaccines.

    1994

    In 1994, the family decided to focus on diagnostics and immunotherapy, thus divesting the vaccine business (sold to Rhône Poulenc/Sanofi).

  • 1997

    1997-1999

    In 1997, a major investment in Silliker Labs gave birth to Mérieux NutriSciences.

  • 2009

    2009

    Biofortis, a leading clinical research and analytical lab focusing on microbiota analysis in Nantes, France, was acquired in 2009.

  • 2011

    2011

    In 2010, Mérieux NutriSciences acquired Provident Clinical Research in Addison, Illinois, which was renamed to Biofortis Research.

    Today

    Today, along with our global locations, Biofortis Research has successfully completed 400 clinical studies. Many of these studies were pivotal for the development of new ingredients, foods, dietary supplements and nutrition programs.
